First up, He Changed Everything.
This is a book written by a friend of my mother-in-law. She writes about her daughter's journey with infertility, and then adoption through foster care. I work in the foster care/adoption/child welfare field and this hit home and I actually had to take my contact lenses while reading it because, tears.
The other book I finished was Everything I Never Told You, by Celeste Ng.
I found this for a dollar at the thrift store and I recognized the title, so I picked it up. I finished it this weekend, and I had mixed feelings about it. Through the first half of the book I was completely intrigued. The plot sucked me in and the characters were mysterious and interesting. The second half just made me sad. Did you read this? What did you think?
Fly Away by Kristin Hannah
The Orphan's Tale by Pem Jenoff
The Ship of Brides by JoJo Moyes
A Summer Affair by Elin Hilderbrand
Have you read anything great this month?

I just finished "The Bookseller's Tale" by Charlie Lovett, which I really liked but it might not be everyone's favorite kind of novel (sort of technical regarding books, collecting, binding, etc., plus it does skip between lots of different characters and centuries and can get a little confusing). A really good one, though, that I read a week or so ago was "Girl In Translation" by Jean Kwok. That one I recommend without reservation. And I also liked "Saints for All Occasions" by J. Courtney Sullivan well enough to finish, though not quite as much as "Girl in Translation."
Oops, I meant "The Bookman's Tale." Apparently, "The Bookseller's Tale" is a murder mystery set in medieval Oxford. That one I can't speak for.
So many good books - The Paper Menagerie by Ken Liu and The Radium Girls by Kate Moore!
I have Everything I Never Told You on my TBR, I have heard mixed reviews. He Changed Everything sounds interesting.
Fly Away is one I really liked. Never read the others!
The Ship of Brides was interesting. It was hard to keep the characters straight in the first part of the book! But I liked it.
I loved Everything I Never Told You. It was definitely sad, but I couldn't put it down.
The Celeste Ng book was definitely sad.
i haven't read Everything I Never Told You yet, but it's on my nightstand from the library, so i'll make sure and have some tissues ready!
I loved Everything I Never Told You! It was definitely sad but beautiful for me.
Everything I Never Told You has been on my TBR for sometime. I've definitely heard it's sad. The subject matter can be a difficult one for me so I need to be in the right mood to handle it.
You are in the middle of 4 books?!?!? My brain would explode. Truly.
Want to read both of the books you recommended!
I haven't read Everything I Never Told You yet, but it's on my list.
The other one is not something I can read at this point in my life.
Everything I Never Told You was painfully sad. But such a great book. I'm excited for her new one!
I still need to read Everything I Never Told You! Everybody really seems to love this book!
I love Everything I Never Told You, I identified with the brother/sister relationship in the story. The story just touched something very personal with me. I can understand why others might not like it so much. I think Everything I Never Told You has a lot of emotional appeal as well. It might be difficult to connect wth the story/characters for some readers. I read The Orphan's Tale and I like it more and more in reflection than when I was actually reading it. Can't wait to hear your thoughts on that one.
I've been really wanting to read Everything I Never Told You!
I just finished reading The Stranger Beside Me bt Ann Rule, which was creepy and fascinating. I'm switching over into Fantasy now and reading Neverwhere by Neil Gaiman!
Everything I Never Told You sounds so sad - but I've heard that it is so good too!! I haven't read that book by JoJo Moyes yet but it's on my list! I've loved a few of her others.
You are reading 4 books at once! Wow, that is impressive. I'm reading two right now and that is all my brain can handle. haha
I loved Everything I Never Told You, but it was definitely depressing!
I finally finished by 2nd book this year, Barefoot by Elin Hilderbrand, LOVED it!!
Everything I Never Told You is on my list! But I don't like books that make me feel really sad, so maybe I'll hold off. Although I haven't been great about finding time to read lately!
I like the diverse reads, and am glad I'm not the only one who reads multiple books at once. I didn't read much in June or July, hoping August and September are great reading months! Here from SUYB. XO - Alexandra
Simply Alexandra: My Favorite Things
That first book sounds amazing! I just finished a so-so book but am about to start a new one for my not-quite-a-book-club (aka friends that eat cake and drink wine together and then all take home the same book to read haha)
