a birthday and a plethora of produce

Tomorrow, Annabelle turns two.  It's hard to believe because it seems like just yesterday she was a teeny, tiny little baby.

And now she's going fishing with a little pink fishing pole my dad made just for her.

They didn't catch anything in the pool, but maybe next time.

Annabelle was at our house last weekend and we walked around the corner to the playground.  It was then that I realized that helicopter parents might have a valid case, and also, I have no idea what the physical capabilities of an almost two year old are.  Can she go down the side alone?  Is the rope bridge too advanced?  Will her tiny little self fly right off the swing if I give her an enthusiastic push and an UNDERDOGGG?

Let's just say I climbed on that jungle gym more than any kid at that park and as for my tunnel crawling and corkscrew ladder climbing skills?

Still got 'em.

Afterwards we came back and we went out back to play in the yard and visit the chickens.

The corn was knee high by the 4th of July.

Speaking of corn, if you're wondering what Matt and I will be eating for the rest of summer, it's corn and tomatoes.

July is shaping up to be a good month.

Cute girl, excellent corn and tomatoes, good things all around.

As for underdogs, we discovered that our five-year-old is not ready for them, thanks to his father getting a little too enthusiastic in his swing pushing and attempting one and said five-year-old flying off face-first and hurting his wrist. (He's fine.) Way to go, Dad. At least that annoying wood chip stuff they put on playgrounds now really does keep them from scraping up their knees, though. Back in MY day, he would have landed on concrete and there would have been blood.

Super jealous of your garden. We have like...2 tomatoes, 1 blackberry, but like 34584583 raspberries. We haven't tended to the raspberries so of course they are perfect.

Kids are terrifying. I never know what they are allowed to or capable of doing and always fear breaking them somehow.

I hope you use that curly vine pic as a photo challenge picture. So cool.

Little girls in those rompers are just the cutest thing.

She is precious!! Love all the corn. Wish I could grow that (or tomatoes for that matter). Looks like a great summer for you so far.

Oh my gosh. I 100% understand helicopter parents whenever I'm watching my cousins (or any kids, really). I NEVER take my eyes from them, hold their hands in the stores, and tell them that they ALWAYS need to be able to see me, wherever we are!
Annabelle is ADORABLE! And those crops look great!!

I like that your readers are commenting on pics that should be in the photo challenge. I think that means we need to set a new one up...

Ahhh, home grown corn is THE BEST and I am totally jealous of your crops... and your chickens, to be honest. If I had my way our backyard would be a big ol' farm but alas we're living with my parents at the moment and they're not too keen :P

Crazy how quickly time flies. She looks so big!

And OMG! Give me your gardening skills. I keep telling myself I'll do it but then I get so nervous that I'll be horrible at it and then tell myself next year. I've been saying next year since 2010.

I love the fishing in the pool. The great thing about 2 is that she doesn't know any better!

What a big girl! Also, I had never heard "knee high by the 4th of July" because in Texas, the corn is knee high by May
