a giveaway winner, and holla 2011!

First things first, the winner of the giveaway is Kathryn!  Congratulations, Kathryn!!

I hope everyone had a wonderful New Year's!  Last night Matt and I went into the city for New Year's Eve.  We met Michelle and her boyfriend at a bar called Brownie's.  I'm sad to report that there were no actual brownies to be found, so that was a bummer.  The ceiling, however, was made completely of mirrors, and as a big fan of any and all reflective surfaces, I enjoyed that classy decorative touch.

Then we walked to the riverfront to watch the fireworks!
My sadness over no brownies at Brownie's disappeared when Katy Perry's song "Firework" played during the fireworks.  The good news is that it appears that someone in the city still enjoys stating the obvious.  The bad news is that the city spent so much on colorful explosive devices that there was no money left in the budget for snow shovels.

Perhaps the mayor should have entered my giveaway...
Happy 2011!!

I mean if I were choosing, I think I'd select fireworks over snow shovels too. Tis the season to be impractical!

I feel like fireworks are a pretty good tradeoff for shoveled sidewalks ;) And I love the pictures you posted! Fireworks are always so pretty.

That's so funny that you were at Brownies! Which one? In Old City? We were in Fairmount.
I bet it was PACKED!
The roads were really not plowed well at all. The scary part was the black ice when we were walking home!
How often are you in the city?
